One of my biggest pet peeves is hypocrisy. You see it everywhere from politics to religion to education.
Do as I say, not as I do
When someone expects you to follow their words and not their actions. This is one of the most frustrating acts, as the person that believes this is likely doing the opposite action to what they’re saying.
They live and thrive on doublespeak. They often don’t take well to being called out, and weirdly they don’t like seeing others do it and will gleefully call them out.
Rules for thee, but not for me
One of the biggest and most irritating tells of a hypocrite is when they don’t apply the same standards to two different groups of people. In my opinion, the largest example here surrounds politics.
I often see some commentator or pundit disparage the guy they disagree with for one act, while praising the one they agree with who does the same thing.
If your principles and morals are malleable, they’re nothing more than options. You should stand firm and look at everyone’s actions and speech equally and apply the same standards across the board.
